Merrch (ABN 51 108 681 782) respects your privacy. We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect it.
1. What we collect
When you request a quote, contact us or place an order, we collect your name, email, phone, company and job title; delivery addresses, including those of gift recipients you ask us to send to; the products, quantities and branding you want; the logos and files you upload; billing details needed to invoice you; and the notes and messages you send us. Card payments are handled by our payment provider, and we do not store card numbers. If you give us information about other people, such as gift recipients, please make sure they know you are sharing it with us for delivery.
When you use our website we may also collect technical information such as your browser, device and the pages you visit, using cookies and similar tools.
2. How we use it
We use your information to prepare quotes, proofs and orders; make and deliver your products; invoice you and manage your account; answer your questions; and improve our website and service. If you have agreed to receive them, we also send updates and offers, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in our emails.
3. Who we share it with
We share information only where needed to provide our services, with:
- suppliers, decorators, printers and couriers who make and deliver your products. We share contact details with them only where needed to produce and deliver your order. This usually means your artwork and the order details they need, and delivery details where they deliver to you or your recipients
- providers who host our website and systems and help with quoting, invoicing, email and marketing, including Shopify for checkout
- AI service providers that help us prepare quotes, mockups, designs and replies
- Google, which provides Google Analytics, if you accept analytics cookies
- our professional advisers and insurers, and government bodies where the law requires.
Some of these providers, including AI providers and Google, store data outside Australia, including in New Zealand and the United States. Some of our suppliers are overseas, including in China, and may receive the artwork and order details needed to make your products. Where we share information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Your logos and artwork
Files you upload are used to quote, proof and produce your order, and so we can reorder for you. We share them with the suppliers and decorators working on your order, and we may use AI tools to prepare mockups from them. We may show finished work in our portfolio and on social media unless you ask us not to. Files you upload through our website, including artwork and delivery address lists, are held in private, access-controlled storage while your order is in progress. Once your order is complete and we have saved them to our order records, we delete them from that storage, normally within 30 days. You can ask us to delete your files, and we will do so unless we need to keep them for legal or legitimate record-keeping reasons, such as invoices and order records.
5. Cookies, analytics and advertising
Our website uses cookies to make it work and to remember your quote list. With your consent, we also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. It is set to anonymise IP addresses, and we have switched off Google's advertising features and ad personalisation. Google handles this data under its own privacy policy and may store it outside Australia, including in the United States. You choose whether to allow analytics when you first visit, and you can block cookies in your browser, although parts of the site, such as the quote list, may not work properly without them.
We do not currently use advertising or retargeting cookies or pixels on this website. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first. Our checkout is provided by Shopify, which uses its own cookies and is covered by Shopify's privacy policy.
6. Security and how long we keep information
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including using secure, access-controlled systems. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of information you send us. We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires, and then delete it or de-identify it. For example, we keep order and invoice records for at least 5 years, as tax law requires, and we keep enquiries that do not become orders for about 12 months.
7. Access, correction and complaints
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing info@merrch.com.au (put "Privacy request" in the subject) or calling 1300 613 986. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we usually respond within 30 days. If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, contact us the same way (put "Privacy complaint" in the subject) and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page.
